In the video clip below, Vena Jones Cox, the Executive Director of COREE (Community of Real Estate Entrepreneurs), announces that Chris Knoppe of CBUS OZ FUNDS will present at the upcoming National Real Estate Strategies Summit sponsored by OREIA (Ohio Real Estate Investors Association).

The annual event is held in Ohio each year and brings together hundreds of real estate investors from the state, region, and across the country to learn and share ideas about real estate investment strategies that work today. CBUS OZ FUNDS will have an information booth at the 4-day event, and Chris will speak about investing in Opportunity Zone funds. Here is the description of Chris’s presentation from the event’s website:

You’ve heard of “Opportunity Zones”, and the powerful tax incentives that come with investing in them, right? Chris Knoppe hasn’t just heard of them: he created an “Opportunity Zone Fund” almost as soon as the strategy was announced, which means he now has years of experience investing in, and helping others invest in, these areas. He’s here to share:

  • Why getting these tax benefits and returns isn’t as easy as “buy a house in an Opportunity Zone”—something that many investors have discovered only after it was too late.

  • His favorite market for achieving good returns, and the driving reasons behind it.

  • How you can passively invest in Opportunity Zones, and know that your money isn’t just working for you: it’s creating attainable housing solutions and improving neighborhoods in dramatic and meaningful ways.

The event will be held from Thursday November 3rd through Sunday November 6th at the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio. For more information, visit the website for the National Real Estate Strategies Summit sponsored OREIA (Ohio Real Estate Investors Association).

The State of Ohio strongly supports OZ investment! Read about the state’s recent efforts to further boost OZ investment by expanding the Ohio OZ Tax Credit program in this new article by Opportunity Zone Magazine, which features commentary from our very own Chris Knoppe.

Chris Knoppe, president of Columbus-based Cbus OZ Funds, said SB 225 would “further incentivize investment into Ohio Opportunity Zones and fuel development, and re-development, in the areas of the state that have been most starved for investment capital.”

Knoppe also noted that SB 225 adds flexibility to the tax credits through allowing the transfer of partial tax credit certificates. It also allows for the certificates to be sold more than once.

“This will increase the liquidity of the tax credits and ultimately increase their value,” Knoppe said.

Chris Knoppe, President of Cbus OZ Funds, was selected by OpportunityZone.com as a Top 25 OZ Fund Manager in 2021! It is a great honor to be recognized as a national leader by the largest Opportunity Zone publication in the country, and it is also a fantastic spotlight on the great things happening in Columbus, Ohio! Below is Chris’s bio that was featured in the magazine and you can read the full publication HERE.

Cbus OZ Funds

Chris Knoppe is president of Cbus OZ Funds in Columbus, Ohio, where he invests to improve local urban neighborhoods in a dramatic and meaningful way through concentrated renovation of distressed housing and mixed-use properties. Investing professionally since 2007, Knoppe has successfully navigated market cycles while executing strategies including distressed property acquisition and repositioning, hard money lending, home building, and fund management. He became enamored by the power of Opportunity Zones shortly after the program’s formation, inspiring him to create a fund structure to amass a portfolio of houses, multifamily, and mixed-use properties while harnessing the power of the OZ incentives.

What kind of trends and new investment areas do you think QOFs will focus on in 2022?

Real estate will continue to be a key investment segment including housing and industrial, however, I think we’ll see real estate investment expand into broader geographies and project types. As awareness of the OZ incentives grow, my hope is that more focus is given to hyper-local investment. Similarly, I think crowdfunding strategies will grow to allow broader investor participation.
